The Labor Department in Southern California is dedicated to maintaining positive labor-management relations between the BIASC and its union represented companies, negotiating various bargaining agreements, representing member interests with disputes regarding terms and conditions of employment and trust fund issues.
In addition, the Labor Department offers:
Negotiating labor agreements for member companies organizations
Monitoring compliance with all labor contract terms and conditions of employment
Providing advice and counsel to members on labor relations issues
Representing County departments in grievance and arbitration hearings
Assistance with jurisdictional disputes
Guidance in establishing dual gate operations in response to picketing
Verification of union and delinquency status of contractors
Representation at pre-job conferences
Assistance in dealing with the National Labor Relations Board, Department of Industrial Relations and other labor-oriented government agencies
Advice on drug testing guidelines
Support in understanding prevailing wage information
Provide apprenticeship program information
Dissemination of Labor Relations Bulletins
Representation on industry-related committees
